We all need a cheap hole in the wall Mexican restaurant in our lives where we can enjoy large portions and cheap margaritas. La Autentica has become one of my go-to's over the years. It is located on Central Ave in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood, and while it is unassuming and hard to even find they deliver when it comes to the food. They have daily specials including some killer Taco Tuesday deals, and the plates come piled with food so bring your appetite.
Chilaquiles Mexicanos, ask for spicy. One of the best dishes on the menu!! The torta can be a hit or miss but I love the chilaquiles. This is one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area as it's very difficult to find good Mexican food in Charlotte! (Coming from ATL so used to lots of options) not too sure how authentic this place is but it's decent. Definitely not like going to an authentic taqueria. (More Americanized)

This is a review for the new location off of Matthews-Mint Hill Rd. My friends and I went on Thursday night to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant recently opened in this location and the renovation looks beautiful. The restaurant is so clean, open, and welcoming. The chunky guacamole is a must! So fresh and delicious. You also cannot go wrong with cheese dip. I ordered the pollo fundido dinner and it was so good! I really liked the taste of the chicken. The manager or owner even stopped by and thanked us for coming after the staff sang happy birthday to my friend. The staff was so welcoming and our service was excellent! The area really needed a good Mexican restaurant and this location is just that!
